Submerged Forest - Mablethorpe335 viewsA fragment of water-worn tree root from the underwater forest at Mablethorpe. Interesting 'souvenir', which I still have. This was the last time (1993) that I saw the tree remains. (found a very interesting piece of amber the same day)

Last Tide89 viewsI took this photo at Trusthorpe in June 1967 of a 'doomed' vessel, the name of which (after 44 years !) I discovered to be the cabin cruiser "FOAM 11", which was smashed against the seawall by the swell. Details of this episode can be read in the very good publication "WASHED IN, WASHED OUT, WASHED AWAY" by Pete and Gemma Leak. (the mention is on page 72). I remember hearing the steady rhythmic thumping of the boat smacking into the concrete, while I was taking photos. (D.Lascelles)Dec 29, 2011

Mablethorpe characters152 viewsI believe that this photo is of Marshal Haley and his brother. (anyone confirm?) The view of Mablethorpe High Street also shows the former sign of the "Book-in-Hand", during it's glory days as a hotel. dklDec 24, 2011

Footprints of yesterday85 viewsI took this photo at 5.30 a.m. following a Bank Holiday. It shows part of the main beach after the previous day's activity. (before the "Surf-rake" arrives to smooth things out!) dklDec 18, 2011

Beach Cleaner at work97 viewsThis useful beast, the "Surf-Rake" eliminates a lot of the surface rubbish from the beaches during the summer; stuff such as papers, food trays, drinks cans, plus lots of 'unmentionables'). It begins work an hour or so after sunrise - A very good investment to keep our beach clean and presentable.Dec 18, 2011
